WATER typically raises money for water projects, however in certain cases other projects are pursued, particularly when the donor requests. The projects are all in Africa. Water projects are almost always done with another agency (UNICEF, World Vision, Carter Center, etc). WATER provides the rural implementation expertise, as well as some cash to keep projects on track on a day to day basis. However, the majority of the funding comes in the form of pumps, tanks, etc. from a major donor agency. WATER also does quite a bit of maintenance, which requires immediate response and hence immediate cash.
