After returning from Trent University's Study Abroad Program which included a 4 month work placement at the Ghana Guinea Worm Eradication Program (GGWEP), the Guinea Worm Eradication and Resource Mobilization Project was borne. Two members of the Trent team assisted with the Guinea Worm project in Tolon District, Ghana while in Africa.  Based in Peterborough, Ontario the Guinea W.E.R.M Project has begun to fundraise through events and awareness campaigns in order to assist The Carter Center in its efforts to implement water intervention projects in the most Guinea Worm endemic communities in Ghana.

The money raised will be used to assist in the implementation of water project(s) in some of the most Guinea Worm endemic communities in the world. The disease has been fought hard over the last 2 decades and appears to be close to its defeat. By acting now we can help make a final push and win this historical humanitarian battle.  A specific project will be decided upon in conjunction with the group during fundraising.
The effort has raised around $1,500 to date.
