Community Partnership Board
and Cornell University
The
Community Partnership Board, with the Coalition of Pan African Scholars
is attempting to raise funding to assist flood relief in Northern Ghana
and to repair water systems in the Northern Region of Ghana. Floods
ravaged the Northern and Upper West Regions on Ghana in September of
2007. As a result over 100 boreholes were damaged, hundreds of latrines
were destroyed and thousands of people left homeless. The damage has
resulted in longer term problems, with the water and sanitation sector
in particular being severely affected. Several dams, which were the
main source of water for some communities were either damaged or
completed destroyed. The Community Partnership Board is working with
student groups in various parts of the USA to collect funds to help
repair the damage. They hope to also send a group of student volunteers
to help during the first part of 2008.
