Board of Directors Jim Niquette – Jim Niquette has been working for the Carter Center since 2002 as a consultant with the Guinea Worm Eradication Program. Prior to that, he was a private business person working for a variety of technology companies, including his own in the United States and Australia for a 15 year period. During his time in technology, he was a sought after international speaker, having authored a book on converting minicomputers to Unix and LAN technology. He was also a consultant to organizations such as the New York Transit Authority, Hewlett Packard and the US State Department. His original African experience came as a result of being a Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia, Africa. He is the founder of W.A.T.E.R. and a graduate of Notre Dame University with a degree in Business Finance. He resides in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana. Dr. Emmanuel Miri - Dr. Emmanuel Samson Miri, hails from Langtang North Local Government Area, and was born in Gindiri, Plateau State, Nigeria 54 years ago. He qualified as a Medical Doctor from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1976 after which he was employed as a House Officer by the Plateau State Hospitals Management Board. In 1982, he attended the Royal College of Physicians at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he passed out with a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He then proceeded to United States, and from there obtained a Masters degree in Public Health. After a series of key Public Health assignments in Plateau State Ministry of Health, he was appointed the Director of Disease Control. In this position, he had overall responsibility for both policy and implementation of public health programs in the State. In 1998 he took over responsibility for all aspects of the Carter Center's Health effort in Nigeria. He serves with them in this capacity today. Dr. Andrew Seidu Korkor - Dr. Andrew Seidu Korkor has beeen the Deputy Director in charge of Public Health in the Northern Region of Ghana from 1995 to now. He has also been the National Program Manager for the Ghana Guinea Worm Eradication Program in Ghana, since 2000. In 2006, he was awarded the Jimmy Carter Award for his outstanding contributions to the worldwide Guinea Worm eradication effort. He also has participated in a number of national and international, WHO, CDC and Government of Ghana seminars concerning Malaria Control, Dancunculiasis Eradication and disease surveilance, while fighting these problems in the field since 1987. Dr. Seidu is a Medical Doctor and holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Leeds, UK. He is married with 4 children and resides in Tamale, Ghana. Ms.
Jan Kline is a Seattle native, a graduate of the University of Washington,
and has served as Pastoral Assistant for Youth Ministry and Outreach at St.
John Vianney Parish in Kirkland, Washington since 1990. Jan has served on the
board of Esperanza International, Inc since 2001; 2 years as president. Jan
is a committee person with the Puget Sound Susan G. Komen For The Cure. Other
commitments in social outreach include Catholic Relief Services in Haiti
& Ghana, Habitat for Humanity Eastside King County and Ghana, and
Maryknoll Mission in Peoples Republic of China. She resides in Kirkland,
Washington, USA. Bob Maher lives in Kirkland, WA with his
wife, Amy, and two children. Bob has managed various sales and
marketing functions at Microsoft since joining the company in 1997. He
is currently Director of Marketing in the division that works with
Microsoft’s largest business partners in the software industry. He has
also run marketing teams in the Unified Communications, Education, and
Windows Mobile divisions of the company. Prior to joining Microsoft,
Bob was a health care public policy analyst for Abt Associates, a research and
consulting firm based in Cambridge, Mass. Bob hold a bachelor’s
degree in Biology from Cornell and an MBA from Yale. In addition to his
work with W.A.T.E.R., he and his wife are also involved in fundraising and
planning for a local domestic violence agency.
